Welcome to my dream.  I am a dreamer and proud of it.  I see the world in Technicolor, lines and form.  I think outside the box.  My name is Roberta and I invite you to look at some of my art work, my graphic novel and make me a proposition.  I will create an original piece of artwork based on your life, your needs and direction in life.  Look at my fine art, some of my non-traditional portraiture created on an individual basis and my graphic novel… read further and learn something about me.

I graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Art Education, because it was what my parents wanted.  It gave me something to fall back on and it was practical.  I taught in the public school system for years because I love young people, but I am more interested in an informal learning setting- both groups and one-on-one.  I have a studio where I work and live and teach.

For 30 something years I have explored a variety of artistic interests: from traditional to Trompe L’Oeil to comic books. I love comic books.  I always have.  I remember Sundays in my hometown, Lake Charles, Louisiana, pouring over the Sunday funny papers.  I couldn’t even read, but the pictures spoke to me.  The first comic I remember was the Tales of Prince Valiant, and then there was Dick Tracy and of course, Tarzan.  I began experimenting with my own form of animation.  Comic books spoke to me.  They are the universal language.  Before we had text cavemen drew on the walls and a picture is worth a thousand words.  Over the years I developed my idea for The Verticy, both as a graphic novel and a learning tool.  It is still a work in progress and I hope to introduce it into educational curriculum as a tool to ease the frustration of the student with a visual bent towards learning, like me.

My biography includes shows and awards at The Clifford Group, The Pikes Peak Arts Center and Tri Lakes Center for the Arts in Colorado and Artists’ Showplace, AMS Productions and the Lakewood Art Exhibit in Dallas, TX.  I won my first award in a city wide adult show in Lake Charles when I was 11 years old.

I am new to New Jersey where I am starting the newest chapter of my life.  My daughters are both off to college and it’s time for Mom to spread her wings as well.  I hope you are enjoying life and pursuing dreams, because it’s never too late.  I’m living proof.

Take care.  I hope to hear from you.
